At its home at the Arese Museum, the brand’s passion comes alive with the “Monza Days” – a rich program created with Alfa Romeo fans in mind.
In order to recount the 112-year history of this brand’s Italian sporty driving since 1910, 112 collection members of official brand clubs will take part in the event and each one will be represented by an iconic vehicle. The idea of involving Alfa’s fans was launched on June 24th at the Alfa Romeo Club Meeting, which brought together representatives of Clubs from around the world at the Arese Museum. As always, the response from the Clubs was enthusiastic.
This year’s Italian Grand Prix gives Alfa Romeo the chance to celebrate the unbreakable bond that links it to the historical Monza Circuit—a location where it has written indelible moments in the pages of motorsport history. Indeed, this year is the 100th anniversary of the world-famous Monza Racetrack, where Alfa Romeo won its first Formula 1 title on September 3, 1950, with the Alfetta 158 driven by Nino Farina.
Alfa Romeo is celebrating this important anniversary with its first Tribe Day, an international event which will gather the brand’s fans from all around Europe. Interestingly, the number of the event’s participants was by no means chosen at random.
Meanwhile, there will be 100 Giulia GTAs and their owners at the event to celebrate the 100 years of the Monza Circuit, ones which have witnessed Alfa Romeo’s most unforgettable motorsport success stories. In fact, the Giulia GTA is one of the most successful models in the brand’s history and its highest achievement in terms of sportiness.
It was precisely at Monza that many of its sporting successes were celebrated: after its introduction at the Amsterdam Motor Show, the race debut was at the 1000 Km of Monza in 1965 with two cars enrolled in the prototype category, awaiting homologation in the turismo class. If this first experience could be considered a test, the real debut was at the 4 Ore of Monza – among the most important events in the world for Turismo cars – with the Giulia Sprint GTA of De Adamich-Zeccoli dominating the race, followed by six other twins Giulia GTA. Four consecutive victories would be celebrated at the 4 Ore of Monza. Thereafter, there were many more victories, from the Coppa Piemonte to the Inter-Europa and the successes achieved by the Giulia Sprint GTA-SA and GTA 1300 Junior versions.
The Tribe Days will take place in two of the brand’s most iconic locations: Alfa Romeo’s home at the Arese Museum, where the participants will be immersed in the brand’s legendary history and witness the prized jewels of the museum collection, and the Balocco Proving Ground, where they will take part in test drives, parades, and track exercises to highlight the dynamic abilities of their Alfa Romeos.
Two iconic Alfa Romeo parades
The most iconic moments of the Alfa Romeo Tribe Day will be the two parades. The first one will take place on Saturday afternoon inside the Monza Circuit. 112 historic vehicles will be shown off on the same track where the F1 single-seaters are going to face off during the same weekend.
The second parade will take place the following morning, when 112 historical vehicles and 100 Giulia GTAs will depart from the Arese Museum and traverse the city of Milan, passing by some iconic locations. After leaving the Arese Museum, the parade will traverse Milan, driving along the Arco della Pace, the square of Castello Sforzesco – symbol that Alfa Romeo’s logo proudly boasts -, then touching on Piazza Duomo, Piazza Della Scala, Via Montenapoleone, Piazza Cavour, Piazza della Repubblica and the Central Station. The parade will certainly stop by the places where at the beginning of the century stood the Portello, Alfa Romeo’s first production site and today home to the first Flagship store characterized by Alfa Romeo new brand identity. Finally, the parade will reach the Monza Racetrack, where all participants will watch the Grand Prix and support the Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN in a dedicated seating area in the Ascari and Biassono stands.
A dedicated livery on the C42 designed by Alfa Romeo Centro Stile
As usual, on the occasion of the Italian Grand Prix, the C42 will hit the track with a livery made specifically for the event by the Centro Stile Alfa Romeo. Alfa Romeo designers have reinterpreted the historical elements of the diagonal-shaped lettering and the historic biscione from the 1950s, which were already present in the official livery.
Both are given greater visibility thanks to a central position on the engine cover and by increasing their size with an unprecedented solution that differs from the right to the left side. Thus, an ever-changing reading experience is offered, depending on the point of view. For the occasion, the historic circular logo also finds space on the car’s front.
The two logos thus pay homage to the city and region, the birthplaces of the brand. An unbreakable tie written in its name: Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili.
